Psalm 8:3-4 When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them?
I have had this same question that David did – what does He want from me? Many have posed this question due to Corona and the current state of the world. Here are a few things I found that help answer this important question.
Mark 12:30-32 “And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
Paul, in Romans 8:29, teaches that God wants us to be like His Son, and for good reason. Jesus is our way of understanding God. We must carefully consider what he did do but also what he didn’t do. He never mocked, scorned, or turned his back on sinners. Love God and love everyone else. This proves hard to do in regular life and even harder when times are uncertain.
So…our love is what God wants.
With love also comes trust.
Proverbs 3:5-6 says “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths”.
We are to love and trust. He also wants us to act. Micah 6:8 “He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” He wants us to impact this world with His message, the gospel. He left us with His final commandment of action – “Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age”.
Love Him. Trust Him. Act on His behalf. Here is a follow up question for you. Is the answer to the David’s question any different for you than it was 30 days ago?
No it’s not.
Let’s focus on Him and His infinite wisdom and love instead of the flavor of the year disruption here on Earth. The things of this world will pass, but His kingdom is forever.
