Yesterday we picked up a man named Don and welcomed him into a host home. He was introduced to Missional Living through a friend attending a conference.
He has a story.
Don is a 65 year old man. He traveled extensively as a young man and felt like he wanted to go into missions at a young age but God said ‘No’.
So, he he continued to serve in the local church as a custodian, piano tuner, choir director, and a disciple maker through the years. It wasn’t until his 60’s that he received God’s affirmation of his desire to serve in missions overseas. He just finished school at Moody, is finishing his support raising, and will move overseas in September!
His story is a great reminder that God’s timing is perfect. You are never too old or too young to do the Lord’s work. You just have to be obedient to his call, timing, and purpose in your life.
Perhaps by the world’s standards, he may not be considered young, successful, highly educated, powerful, etc., but in God’s eyes, He is a valued child and was given a purpose that he is beautifully fulfilling.
An ordinary person, like most of us, doing extraordinary things for God!
You too, regardless of your age, have been given a purpose to fulfill. God has given you spiritual gifts, strengths, passion and a calling. I encourage you to discover them if you have not yet done so!
Be encouraged by Isaiah 46:3-4:
“Listen to me…(you) who have been upheld by Me from birth, who have been carried from the womb: Even to your old age, I am He, and even to gray hairs I will carry you! I have made, and I will bear; even I will carry, and will deliver you.”
That is a great confirmation that you will not be alone on this adventure!
Set aside every excuse and share YOUR God’s story!
